Probate litigation arises when conflicts occur during the administration of a deceased person’s estate, including disputes over wills, trusts, or the distribution of assets. Each of these areas requires navigating complex legal principles, making skilled advocacy essential for resolving these disputes effectively.
Civil litigation encompasses a wide range of legal disputes, including matters related to real estate, personal injury, and probate. In the realm of real estate, civil litigation often involves issues such as evictions, easements, mechanics’ liens, and title claims, where parties may dispute property rights, access, or financial interests in the property.
For the past 39 years, I have focused on trial work, building extensive experience representing clients in court when cases cannot be resolved otherwise. I am committed to clear and prompt communication, always respecting my clients’ time and financial resources. My practice spans a broad range of civil cases, including business disputes, contracts, and formation; personal injury matters such as slip-and-fall incidents and car accidents; mechanics’ liens; leases and landlord-tenant issues; real estate disputes involving land titles and easements; insurance conflicts; and consumer law, including contractor disputes.
In addition to my legal practice, I have served as an attorney for the New Hampshire State Senate on three occasions, contributed to several local nonprofit boards in Portsmouth, and served on the Portsmouth Zoning Board. In 2013, I was honored with the NH Bar Association Distinguished Pro Bono Service Award for my work assisting clients in need.
I look forward to continuing to provide effective and dedicated representation to my clients.
I live by a simple rule: The client comes first. This principle was instilled in me during my first job at a law firm in 1986, where my mentor, Al Casassa, exemplified it every day. Al always prioritized the client’s interests—above his own, above billing, above everything. By doing so, he built unwavering loyalty and trust with his clients, a practice I have followed for over 30 years. Putting the client first often means making tough decisions. It may mean not billing for work if no tangible benefit was achieved. It may involve advising a client to handle a matter independently rather than taking their case. Sometimes, it means delivering hard truths instead of what they hope to hear. This approach is not about short-term gains for the lawyer but about fostering long-term success for the client, and it remains at the heart of how I practice law.
In our lifetime we've had good mechanics and great mechanics, good doctors and great doctors, good pastors and great pastors. Now we are blessed to have had a great lawyer named Ken Murphy. Thank you so much for your diligence and persistent drive to resolve our situation.
